Going On Holiday in Llandudno


Llandudno is an extremely popular tourist destination because there are so many things to do. Llandudno is not only a beautiful town laced with Victorian architecture, it has a stunning beach, unique pier, spectacular Orme, and is situated on the great North Wales coast close to other historical tourist destinations, like Snowdonia National Park, Conwy, and many ancient Welsh castles.

Llandudno has its own Victorian pier built in 1876; this pier is laced with pubs, cafes, shops, and children’s entertainment making it perfect for a family day out. When you are on the pier you will experience fantastic views of the Llandudno shore line, and stunning beach. Llandudno also boasts the famous Great Orme, a magnificant rocky headland stretching straight out into the sea. Conwy is a walled town located within the walls of Conwy Castle, which were built between 1283 and 1289 as part of Edward I of England’s conquest of the principality of Wales. Conwy is very popular amongst visitors as the fabulous history it bares, as well as the wealth of attractions and activities it has within the town.

Some of the attractions include the Conwy Castle, which is open to visit, allowing you to walk around the historic walls, the interesting smallest house in Britain – located on the Conwy quay, measuring at just 3.05 metres x 1.8 metres. The Butterfly Jungle is a popular place to visit for families and friends, where you can walk around a haven of butterflies, where some will even land on you. Plas Mawr is another house open to the public, as it Is of Elizabethan origin built in 1576 by the Wynn family, which has of late has been refurbished and is open to visits for the public. The river Conwy offers some lovely walks and is located in close proximity to Deganwy Marina, which is always a stunning sight for any visitor.

Getting out and about in Llandudno, North Wales


Llandudno is one of North Wales’s premier tourist destinations. It has so much to offer people of all ages and attracts many of the same people year after year. It is particularly popular with older people as it is a very flat place and easy to walk around.

Looking out over the long promenade that stretches between two magnificent headlands the Little Orme and the Great Orme, you will always see an abundant of people strolling along taking in the magnificent views of the ocean, Great Orme and the long stretch of Victorian buildings that stretch the whole length of the promenade. These Victorian building are now predominantly Llandudno hotels.

Llandudno really does have a wide variety of activities for all ages. It has two lovely beaches, the North Shore and the West Shore. The North Shore is an award winning beach, with a delightful crescent shape and golden sands. The grade II listed pier at the end is just magnificent and houses numerous kiosks, souvenir shops and rides. It’s a lovely place to spend an afternoon whilst eating your fish and chips. West Shore has distinctive sand dunes and amazing views over the Conwy Mountains. It faces Anglesey and Snowdonia.

The Great Orme is a must for any visitor to Llandudno, and there are many ways to reach the top. You can travel by cable car which is a distance of one mile each way, the longest aerial cabin lift in the UK, which was build in 1969. Travelling by cable car offers magnificent views over happy valley gardens and the Great Orme Cliffs out to sea.

The Great Orme Tramway is another lovely way to travel to the top. The Tram was opened in 1902, and is the only cable operated street tramway surviving in the UK today, and only 3 of these are left in the world.

You can also drive to the top around Marine Drive which offers amazing views and has numerous places to park on-route so that you can take in the views.

If you are feeling energetic then you can also walk to the summit. There are various routes to the top and as you can imagine the scenery is just superb. You can take the cable car or tram back to the bottom if you wish.

There are many things to do and explore on the Great Orme including the dry ski slopes, the copper mines, and copper miners village, mini golf and there is a large visitor’s centre at the top and also a restaurant and gift shop.

Llandudno has a wide selection of bars, restaurants and shops, with both high street stores and unique boutiques.

You will really be spoilt for choice for things to do in and around Llandudno.
